How to use the CNAMEs with Cloud Files Containers on Cloud?

The cloud server is an on-demand self-service web infrastructure where the users pay for what they require. It's all being managed through the browser, application or API. In Cloud technology, all the server instances are scalable and are monitored 24/7. You will be able to acquire a lot of disc space, bandwidth, memory, in minutes and there will be no effect on your operating environment. The virtualization software that comes with the cloud offers simple management and cloud servers provide root access, files, memory, processes, configuration files, system libraries, IP addresses, applications and a lot more of features.

A CNAME record is a procedure to link the Cloud Server Files container to the branded URL which you display instead of the CDN URL (Uniform Resource Locator). Eg: you might need to create a CNAME record which is going to link your CDN URL like http://c574625.r00.bv1.abcdcdn.com to a smaller or the branded URL like http://images.abcde.com).

Finding your CDN URL:

Before you start creating the CNAME record, you have to know the CDN URL of the container. You will be able to find the Cloud Files section of the Cloud Server control panel by selecting the gear icon which is next to the container name and choosing the View All Links. The pop-up dialog box along with the CDN links to the container which is displayed:

Additionally, you will be able to request the container details through the Cloud Files API.

Setting up of CNAME records:

You will be setting up your CNAME record by managing the DNS. Inside the DNS settings, you need to request the new record. You need to make sure that the CNAME record points to the container’s CDN Uniform Resource Locator (URL) and not the object’s CDN Uniform Resource Locator (URL).

While utilizing HostingRaja Cloud DNS, create a CNAME record which uses the instance values introduced at the initial stage of this article will look as follows:

If you are willing to edit or delete the CNAME record, you are also allowed to do that by managing the DNS in the existing tool.
