How to Backup & Restore MySQL Database Using phpMyAdmin

Backup your MySQL Database

  • Login to cPanel control panel using passwords and users name of your Linux VPS server.

  • You need to enter your ip address in order to login to cPanel of your Linux VPS server provided by your hosting company.

  • From the main screen of cPanel, locate to Databases and hit phpMyAdmin

 



  • Choose the database you would like to backup from the left navigation tree on this screen of your Linux VPS server account.

 



  • Hit the Export tab.

 



  • Select the Quick export method and hit Go button.

 



  • Now pop up for download will appear, choose the destination in which you wish to download your database, by default it will download to your download folder.

 

Restore your MySQL database from a Backup

  • Select the database you wish to restore from the left navigation panel.

  • The phpMyAdmin script that restores your databases available in your account does not drop the tables first. Hit the Check All check box.

  • Hit the With selected: drop down menu & choose Drop option.

 



  • Verify by hitting Yes.

  • Hit the Import tab.

  • Hit the Choose File button to browse for the MySQL backup from your system.

 



  • Hit Go button.
